There is a common misconception regarding whether it is legal to own and use a suppressor. The answer is Yes, silencers are legal, and they are easy to obtain.
No, license is needed to purchase a silencer but you do have to pay a one-time $200 tax for each silencer you purchase. You also have to live in a state where silencers are legal and have to meet certain criteria to be eligible to own one. The only states which do not allow a citizen to own a suppressor are: California, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island and Hawaii.
Determine whether or not your state allows you to own a silencer. Silencers are legal but they are regulated on a per-state basis. However, the National Firearms Act (NFA) branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) ultimately controls any transfers, and all silencers are registered by this branch. Individuals, corporations, and trusts can legally purchase and possess silencers in 38 states.
There is a great informational site that SilencerCo puts out and the link is here: Silencer Info

Republic Firearms Brand Ammo!! |
|
|
|
|
We are excited to announce our own brand of ammunition. There are two lines being produced, both will be reloaded ammo using quality brass and components. Testing is ongoing to establish the best load in each caliber. All center-fire ammunition handgun calibers will be packaged 50 per box., while rifle cartridges will contain 20 rounds.
The CLASSIC line is a lower priced ammunition ideal for target shooting. The bullet will typically be a jacketed round nose and will be a "lighter" load for a lighter recoil and more comfort during extended shooting.

Our PREMIUM line is a higher priced ammunition, but will still cost less than factory brands. The bullet used will be Hornady's XTP jacketed hollow-point and will be a "standard" load allowing the shooter to practice using rounds that will be similar in performance and recoil to factory defensive rounds. While they will perform like costly high-end ammunition they SHOULD NOT be used for defensive purposes. We recommend only using quality factory ammunition in your carry gun or for self protection.

The initial release of the CLASSIC and PREMIUM ammunition will center around the most popular and asked for calibers. We anticipate these to be available for sale in early May, and will consist of 9mm, .40cal, and .45ACP. We should be ready to go with the second batch in June which should contain .380ACP, .38cal, and .357 Magnum. Mid summer should see the last offering of pistol calibers which will be 10mm, .44 Magnum and .45 Long Colt. Also, we should be ready to go by mid summer with our first two rifle cartridges, the .223 and the .308. These will be offered in the same CLASSIC and PREMIUM lines, with the PREMIUM using Hornady's jacketed boat-tail match grade bullets. We are considering other rifle calibers with 7.62x39 and 7.62x54 in mind along with possibly 5.7x28 as well.
Not to neglect the shotgunners wanting to practice using buckshot instead of the less expensive bird-shot rounds, we will be offering a 12ga 00 Buckshot round as well. We don't have a release date on this in mind, but we have the majority of the components in place and could be ready to go at any time. We are debating whether to offer these in 5, 10 or 25 round boxes.
Our intent with these rounds is to help the active shooter offset the rising costs of purchasing factory ammunition. Watch our website for more information on the official release date and pricing.
For further details, or if you have a suggestion for a caliber you would like us to offer please contact us at the store at 440-734-8000, or I can be reached directly via email at

. While we can't guarantee the addition of all suggestions, if there is enough demand, we may add it to the line.

Obama "Salesman of the Year" for Gun Industry |
|
|
|
|
A 61 percent boom in the nation's gun industry since 2008 has led some experts in the business to call President Barack Obama their "salesman of the year", according to the The Washington Times.
A survey by the National Shooting Sports Foundation reported in a release Thursday that the economic impact of the firearms and ammunition industry totaled $31 billion in 2011 - up from $19 billion in 2008. The figure includes jobs, taxes, and sales. The foundation, which has its headquarters in Newtown, Conn., is the trade association for the firearms industry.
The number of jobs in the gun industry increased by 30 percent to 98,750, and firearms businesses paid $2.5 billion in federal taxes, up 66 percent in the three-year period, the foundation said. Additionally, background check requests for purchases of firearms set records in 2010 and 2011, FBI data shows.
Fears that Obama will tighten gun control laws if he wins re-election triggered the rise in business, officials in the business say. "There's a concern that in the second term the Obama administration would lead an attempt to restrict gun ownership," foundation Senior Vice President Lawrence G. Keane, told The Washington Times.
"Some people jokingly refer to him [President Obama] as the salesman of the year for the industry," Keane said.
